Reading and Leeds festivals continue to diverge with the latest additions.

The unprecedented line-up split between Reading and Leeds Festival continues to gather pace. At this point it is clear that Leeds Festival is getting a greater share of indie bands and Reading is becoming more rap focused. This has not gone down well with everyone who purchased tickets based on the initial headliners, as there was no indication this would be happening. The biggest addition to either line-up is Blossoms, who are playing in Leeds only. With the further Leeds exclusives of Dylan John Thomas, M60 and The Clause, added to the previously announced acts like Kasabian, The Ks and The Lathums and some Reading guitar music fans are feeling a little hard done by. Equally, for Reading attending rap fans there are some real reasons to be cheerful.

Guitar band additions for both sites are alt-rockers Unpeople, the 19-year-old highly rated Mancunian Alex Spencer, LA based indie-rock artist Camille Blackman and the fast rising grunge inspired American rock band Untitled. The festivals complete the ‘Nepo Baby’ clean sweep by adding Gene Gallagher’s Villanelle to join the previously announced Cruz Beckham and the Breakers and Violet Grohl. Rap fans can look forward to Nine Vicious, Sinn6r and JD Cliffe. Beth McCarthy, December 10 and US duo After have pop fans covered. For those looking for something a bit more unusual you could try the retro-crooner stylings of 54 Ultra.

The last Leeds exclusive are jungle producers 4am Kru. Reading Festival exclusives are up and coming South London rapper Ceebo and Fiona-Lee, An East Yorkshire artist who is ploughing a similar furrow to Paris Paloma.

Along with the latest name-drop we are told that stages will be revealed next week. There is a suggestion of at least one more restyled, or new stage, alongside the previously announced Warehouse Stage.
