Once again, Reading Council business shows us a possible hint of the future of Reading Festival.
Leeds Festival has majorly one-upped Reading Festival this year by having Kasabian as Thursday night headliners. Reading early arrivers will have the silent disco to look forward to instead. The reason for the difference is that Leeds was granted a live music license for Thursday and Reading does not currently have one. Alongside a series of requested minor adjustments to the timings for alcohol licenses, Festival Republic have put in another request to have live music on the Thursday night for the 2027 festival onwards. It remains to be seen if Reading Council will agree to the extension, or once again deny it.
