A third album that revels in dance music and good times.

Friday the 21st of August was one of those Fridays, the ones where over a dozen good albums get dropped on the same day and it is so easy to let something good slip through the cracks. For that reason we have got to this album a bit late, but it compels itself to be mentioned.

Jorja Smith has always comes across as an ordinary person with an extraordinary amount of talent. ‘Blue Lights’ was released when she was sixteen and it still sounds incredible a decade later. This third album was born out of a project with Richard Isong, better known as P2J. They made the track  ‘Little Things’ and Smith was keen to expand it out to an EP. After a couple of days they had the basis of a full album.

The easy freedom of the creation process has extended into the finished result. This is an album that is free and light on its feet. Smith sounds fantastic, because she always does. The production rolls into a range of different dance sub-genres but never sounds anything less than absolutely cutting edge. This is an album that deserves to be heard and enjoyed, Jorja Smith is one of the great UK talents. Catch her live, her Reading Festival performance in 2024 was a triumph of effortless cool, much like this joy of an album.
