Single of the Week: The Sick Man of Europe – Negative Stimuli
Still one of the best under the radar bands in the UK right now. This is the first taste of second album The Intermittent Signal, out on the 25th September. It picks up exactly where the last album left off with its juddering electro-retroist minimalism. Given how brilliant that was, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
Anyx with Andy Aquarius – Window In Your Eyes
This is a slow-burning, haunting slice of magic from a fascinating album due out on the 28th of August. Anyx is a Berlin-based artist, musician and vocalist called Anna Lucia Nissen, formerly of a trio called Anchoress. There is a beautiful androgyny to the vocals in the manner of Anohni or Scott Walker.
Radie Peat – Still I Love Him
The generational voice talent of Radie Peat has graced the work of Lankum and ØXN for a number of years now. This first taste of solo work from her leans far closer to the style of Lankum. There is a devastating brilliance to the sparseness of the music that counterpoints the richness of Peat’s voice.
The Certs – LUNA
The Certs continue to show evolution and growth on this new single. Sugar House Production help beef up the guitar sound for the must thunderous, driven track the band have yet released. Epic stuff.
Son Lux – Want You To Love
Defying easy categorisation Son Lux construct a hugely rich sound on their latest single.
The Amazons – One Hot July
The latest extra single, part of the special edition version of 21st Century Fiction subtitled (Epilogue), from Reading’s finest band. Now a full five piece band everyone gets a moment to shine here.
Lonnie Gunn – Babytooth
Slowly releasing material since 2022, there is a real quality to this new single from the American born but Brighton based artist.
Really Good Time – The Love Song
We love this one, hugely beefy intro guitar and drums leading into an impassioned vocal performance and some beautiful quieter moments.

3 different artists come together to produce an upbeat slice of The Streets-esque garage-dance music.
Nia Archives feat. Jorja Smith – Get Me Down
One of the better tracks from junglist Nia Archive’s second album, due out next week. Jorja Smith is on a roll at the moment with a series of interesting releases and collaborations.
