One for all the indie-pop lovers out there.
If you like a shiny bit of pop music augmented by some proper guitars then this is going to be right up your street. They have been releasing music since 2018 but this is their debut album after a few EPs and singles. MUNA feel like quite a good reference point as to their sound and there are some nice orchestral arrangements on a few slightly more epic-sounding tracks.

This release caught our eye as it features one of the few officially out there members of Sleep Token. Lynsey Ward, who fronts Exploring Birdsong, is also part of Espera – a trio of female singers who perform with the rising metal band in their live performances. The only hint of that heavy undertone appears here on ‘You Like It Best When It Hurts.’ which leans into some metal-esque, guitar riffage. A far cry from the melodic indie-pop that populates the rest of the album.

There are some hugely epic moments on this album. ‘Every House We Built’ instantly leaps out as a winner. ‘Archipelago’ comes out of the gates strongly, sweeping you up into their well refined sound. ‘I_You’ could have done some real chart damage in the hands of an A-Lister. An enjoyable listen. One you suspect will keep gathering up fans over the next year.
Essential Tracks: ’42,’ ‘Spy In The House Of Love,’ ‘I_You’ and ‘You Like It Best When It Hurts.’
