Billy Woods just can’t take a week off at the moment.

Single of the Week: Mandy, Indiana and Billy Woods – Sicko!

The central highlight of Mandy, Indiana’s very fine new album sneaks out just ahead of the full album release. Billy Woods makes two appearances on the playlist this week. Not only enjoying his purple patch, but absolutely running with it.

Mitski – I’ll Change For You

Mitski lives to combine atmosphere, story telling and emotion and all three meet here in impressive fashion on this second single from the eighth album. She wanted it to feel like an encounter in a posh hotel bar and you absolutely can feel it.

EsDee Kid

Everyone expected Esdee Kid to return and capitalize on his staggering 2025 but no one imagined it would be this early. Has Tik Tok started to shorten music tracks or are we just returning to the rapid pop days of the 1950s and 1960s where many tracks clocked in at under two minutes? Regardless, the backing is strongly atmospheric and the bars are sharp. “25, I did a milli’, boy ’26, I need a billi’, boy.” He might just get there.

Crooked Fingers – Insomnia

Crooked Fingers is a solo project from Eric Bachmann, part of cult 90’s rock band Archers of Loaf. I absolutely love this track and will be keeping an eye out for the album.

Alto Alto – Spanish Procession

How good is this??!!!!?? Fourth single over the last couple of years from a new Oxford band. You can catch these alt-rockers at The Jericho Tavern on the 17th of April with Aftercare and Mount St. Helen.

Hungry – Cambridge Is On Fire

We love these guys. From Cambridge but based in Manchester. An excellent live act and an intelligent, amusing band.

Nxdia – Cool

A megastar in the making. Their performance at Reading Festival last year was rammed for the BBC Introducing Stage.

Also on the playlist: Bilmuri, Arlo Parks, sombr, Art School Girlfriend and many more…
