Single of the Week: Arctic Monkeys – Opening Night
Oh how we miss you when you are not around! This is slightly more low key Arctic Monkeys, though utterly gorgeous, and in keeping with the last couple of albums. Is it a leftover from older sessions, a one off, or is a new album in the offing? Part of the new War Child album that will be an essential listen given the many stars featuring, including Fontaines DC, Beck, Olivia Rodrigo, Foals and many more.

Each release continues to showcase a band with a lot of versatility, switching styles with a range of guitar music. Bring on the album. And the live shows.
Sonic Whip – Invincible
Blimey, we liked this track before they played the Purple Turtle tonight – but WOW, what a gig. This Dutch band is the real deal and they have an exciting new album ready to go. Reading is becoming something of a second home for them.
Joshua Idehen – This Is The Place
A nice vibe, and some proper dance music, on this new one from the performance poet and singer.
Lo Rays – Knee High (feat. Afterlove)
The Lo Rays gig on the 16th of March at the Purple Turtle looks like a must attend. This Finland meets Scotland band make some amazing, low budget, sci-fi inspired videos and they are a fantastic rock outfit.
Bibi Club – Washing Machine
We have already heard the forthcoming third Bibi Club album, from the Montreal based duo, and it is very, very decent. This single is a very enjoyable slice from it.
