Some lovely tunes this week but the winner goes local!
Single of the Week: Bevendene – Magic
Bevendene are the one Reading band we wanted to see that we have kept missing this year, which is annoying as they are putting out some great music. This is a lively, quality indie offering.
ENNA – flicker
ENNA is starting to gain some traction, aided no end by that remarkable voice. Expect bigger things in 2026.

South Arcade – Blood Run Warm
The Oxford band have had a stellar year, but it still only feels like they are just warming up. This is quite a change of pace compared to a lot of their work but shows they have a range of strings to their bow.

Cardinals – Barbed Wire
This Irish band are another hot tip for 2026. They are showing a really range in what they put out. This is a really enjoyable track.

how r u – clarence & alabama (feat. Theo Bleak)
This is a gorgeous track with a hint of country by the Belfast based Thom Southern, fantastic support coming from the talented Theo Bleak.
Radio Free Alice – Rule 31
This Australian band were another very enjoyable listen at this year’s Reading Festival. There is a strong 80’s new wave meets noughties indie vibe to their work.

Wench! and Jodie Langford – You’ve Got Male!
We utterly love this Hull punk-rock outfit. They are another band who deserve to get a lot more attention in 2026. Jodie Langford is another Hull based musician who normally specialises in electro-party punk and spoken word poetry.

SOAPBOX – Boiling A Frog
Incredibly lively single from this Scottish band. We will be trying to track down any more they have released and have a proper listen.
Red Ivory – Hate The Way
The debut EP also dropped this week and this is the work of a sophisticated young band.
