Single Of The Week: Horse Vision – Watching Over Me

Horse Vision are a Stockholm based duo. This track has a mix of easy listening and whistful melancholy that zips in and out in just over two minutes.

The Weather Station -Airport

One of a couple of tracks that didn’t fit in with the overall feeling of brilliant last album, Humanhood. Being The Weather Station, this is of course utterly gorgeous.

Artio – Let it be a Void

Leeds based Artio are rapidly gathering fans to their cause of extremely modern rock music.

Giant Rooks – The Future Is Cancelled

Sumptious track from this German indie-band who have been making music since 2014.

oreglo – The Whirr

Fascinating newish indie band with a line-up of drums, electric guitar and tuba!

Tonia and Zander – Paris

Liverpool based Tonia makes some beautiful alt-pop as evidenced on this collaboration with Zander.

Electron – Lie To Me

From Portugal via London, as we witnessed in person a few weeks back this band can seriously rock. A very strong new single.

Lankum – Ghost Town

This surprise drop from Lankum just beats out Kae Tempest’s inventive cover of ‘Freedom’ and Pale Wave’s more straight-forward interpretation of ‘Zombie’ for most interesting cover version of the week. Here The Special’s 1981 classic is barely recognisable, the result of a made to order request by Oona Doherty for a dance show she put on earlier in the year. She wanted ‘Ghost Town’ specifically but also wanted it indistinguishable at the start. Lankum take the source material and perform their usual magic.

Freya Ridings – Wicker Woman

Powerful new track from Freya Ridings with a typically strong vocal performance.

Obongjayar – GiveMe More

A really fun new track from Obongjayar with that ever distinctive voice.

More tracks on the playlist including The Twilight Sad, The Cribs, Indoor Foxes, Willie J Healey, Kae Tempest and many more.
