Single of the Week: The Sick Man of Europe – Obsolete

Serious 80s vibes on this track bringing Gary Numan and Kraftwerk to mind, though with a bit more of an LCD Soundsystem freshness to it. I thoroughly enjoyed this but am now seriously annoyed that they were at The Face Bar a couple of weeks back supporting Snapped Ankles and I missed it 🙁

Nerves – Dirty Fingers

The rest of the world should just give up at the moment. Another week, another great Irish band. What is in the drinking water over there?

With ‘Dirty Fingers’ we wanted to come out of the gates with something that was fast, intense and sonically overwhelming,” says frontman Kyle Thornton. They most definitely succeeded.

Nerves by Erin Plaice.

Caroline and Caroline Polacheck

Gorgeous, gorgeous collaboration. Polacheck has been on fire recently, Caroline are ones to watch.

Kenny Hoopla – NORTHERN LIGHTS

If you are familiar with Kenny then the sheer quality of this will not surprise you. If you are unfamiliar then you are in for a treat.

The Kooks – Compass Will Fracture

Has it really been nineteen years since the monster hit album Inside In/Inside Out was released? Great to see them out touring this year, they will be high on my list of bands to see at Reading Festival.

Various other releases on the playlist including two singles from Broncho, and another new one from Lana Del Ray.
