Gorillaz are back with a bang and Baxter Dury sneaks out one more blinding single from his incredible new album.

Single of the Week: Baxter Dury and JGrrey – Mockingjay

Baxter’s new album is an utter blinder. This intense, insistent track is one of the nine slices of perfection contained within it.

Gorillaz (featuring Sparks) – The Happy Dictator

This one is a real grower. This collaboration occurred after Sparks left a note in Damon Albarn’s dressing room at an event both were involved in. Sparks are booked in to support Gorrilaz at their London gig next year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eville – No Pictures Please

Intense new track from Brighton band Eville.

Coach Party and Black Honey – Disco Dream

A lively collaboration between the Isle of Wight’s Coach Party and Brighton’s Black Honey. The new Coach Party album drops soon and they are touring to support it.

The Valla – Gum

A fine slice of indie-pop from one of the most underrated bands in the country.

Esoterica – Alive

The new album is out September 19th though a lot of it has already been released. This is a classy and complex track with orchestral and choir backing aligned to the heavy rock engine.

Gurriers – Erasure

Great new single from the Irish post-punks. They are on tour shortly including dates in Oxford and London.

EtaCas – You Gotta Go!

This band deserves a far bigger audience. Top notch pop leaning indie-tronica.

Nightmares on Wax – Bang Bien

A new Nightmares on Wax mixtape is incoming featuring a range of impressive talent! This delightful number features Yasiin Bey (the ever brilliant Mos Def).

Also on the playlist: Cat Burns, jasmine.4.t, The Smashing Pumpkins and more!
