Alt rock trio Mouth Culture have a brand new single out today! It is called ‘Regret 101’. They play the Festival Republic Stage at 2:05pm on Saturday at Reading and Sunday at Leeds. Frontman Jack Voss answers a few questions ahead of their Reading and Leeds debut.
Reading Indie Life: How would you describe your band to someone who hasn’t seen you play?
Jack: Loud, heartfelt, in your face energy. We have tunes for everyone, whether you want to mosh, dance or cry, we have a bit of everything.

You are from Leicester, what is the local music scene like?
I feel like Leicester’s music scene is sculpted by the ‘big’ bands that have come out of LC. You don’t really see that happen much here anymore, but there’s a lot of cool stuff coming up at the moment. We are lucky to have a workspace where a lot of artists are creating, so we somewhat feel stationed at the epicentre of some really cool people doing cool stuff. There will be some big names coming out of LC in the near future I’m sure.
Have you been to Reading or Leeds Festival as paying customers, or will this be your first visit?
We have been lucky enough to attend the last few years, it’s always a blast with a great diverse line up. I remember seeing the Hard Life boys (Easy Life, Leicester) playing one of the main stages back in 2023 and seeing a local band do that was insane, so to be given the opportunity ourselves is a great honour.
How are you feeling about playing the Festival Republic Stage?
We feel calm and ready now but I am sure the days leading up to it we will be running around like kids. Seeing our name on that poster is mental. We are ready to show Reading and Leeds what we are about.
Who are your heroes or your influences?
We all have quite an eclectic and diverse music taste between us, but if we had to pick a few people influencing us right now it would have to be what Hayley Williams is doing with her solo stuff, we’re STILL listening to the new Turnstile album and we absolutely vibe with Royel Otis and their new album everyday of the week.
Who else are you looking forward to seeing on the Reading/Leeds bill on your day?
Limp Bizkit, Bring Me, Bakar, South Arcade, Wunderhorse and Unpeople to name a few.
The craziest thing that happened at one of your gigs is?
We’ve had a few broken bones and dislocated joints at some shows which is always a bit crazy but I guess it would have to be when someone tried to break into our van 5 minutes before we were going on stage, and we were still in the van when it happened. We were definitely warmed up for the show, that’s for sure.
