We highly recommended you go and see these young punk warriors from Hull burn up the BBC Introducing Stage at 1:50pm on Sunday 24th at Reading and Friday the 22nd at Leeds. The two releases they have put out so far are incendiary and a bright future awaits. We spoke to Kit Bligh ahead of their major festival debut appearance.
RIL: You guys are clearly the best thing since sliced Lambrini Girls! How on Earth did you get so good so young?
Kit: Wowzas, thank you, that is so kind. I think the only way to progress and get better is just to practice. When you are passionate enough about something, the practicing is fun and not a chore, allowing you to practice for hours. This includes band practices. When we first formed, we would book out the college rehearsal room multiple times a week and go over material until it was perfect! This was the only thing that made me want to go to college to be honest.

How would you describe your band to someone who hadn’t seen you play?
We are sooooo good. We’re loud and angry, whilst still being melodic and something you can dance too. We are also fun and silly at times.
You are from Hull, what is the local music scene like?
The hull music scene is bursting with talent, and the people in it, both musicians and music fans, have accepted us with open arms. The community is what drives the Hull music scene, and it’s a beautiful one. Hull’s got some absolutely ace grassroots venues, such as The Polar Bear and the legendary Adelphi club- both places which showcase a variety of different music, and give platforms to musicians, at all points in their careers. For young people in Hull , Warren Records is a supportive, independent non-profit record label, who change lives by making music accessible and safe for all young people no matter where they come from. The Warren have been so integral to our journey and we wouldn’t be where we are today without their help and guidance.

Have you been to Leeds Festival as paying customers, or will this be your first visit?
None of us have ever been! To be honest, it’s never really been an option or something we’d chose to go to; but that actually makes it more exciting that we’re going, as we don’t really know what to expect!

Tell us about your BBC Introducing journey.
We first submitted our single ‘Shreds’ to the BBC uploader, and told them what we’re all about and what we stand for. This was a game changer because they liked what they were hearing, and soon invited us for a live session and interview!!! From there, the love from the BBC Introducing team with people like the legendary Jericho Keys, has been big, and they’ve continued to support us. In fact, we were surprised by the offer for RnL, as the video call was disguised as an interview about upcoming gigs! Very smooth… What we appreciate most about the BBC Intro team, as well as their support, is how they treat us as professional musicians, not just kids doing this as a hobby. We mean business, and they see that!!!
There is some righteous anger on the Relaxing Rain Sounds For Baby Sleep EP. Generally, how angry are you all on a day-to-day basis? What are the things that get you REALLY angry?
There’s so many things for us to be angry and upset about, and I find that regulating that emotion and anger is what’s most difficult. The world is scary and cruel right now, and sometimes even the music industry can be, but we channel our rage and anger into our art, it fuels the fire, and I think this shows. On a day-to-day basis, I (kit) get angry when I am misunderstood, as a neurodivergent person, this happens a lot. When it sometimes feels like this world wasn’t made for your brain and the way you think and express yourself, that can be really frustrating.

Who else are you looking forwards to seeing on the Reading/Leeds bill on your day?
AMYL AND THE SNIFFERSSSSS!!!!!!! Amy Taylor is a huge inspiration to all of us in the band, her energy is unmatched, and her ability to use her platform for good, is something really admirable.
By the end of 2026 the three things we would like to achieve as a band are:
Release another EP (or maybe even an album??!!!!??!)
Play a gig outside of the UK
Support Lambrini Girls (We can dream!!!)
