It is between a bold comeback, after 4 years away, and a remix of a 3-year-old track for Single of The Week.

Single of the Week: Wolf Alice – Bloom Baby Bloom

It has been nearly 4 years since Wolf Alice released their last album, the superb Blue Weekend. Bloom Baby Bloom is a bold comeback single and a statement of artistic intent. The nagging piano line, bass heavy drumming and vocals that draw upon Ellie Rowsell’s classical singing training are incredibly striking. This is a band moving forwards rather than doing more of the same.

Leftfield ft. Grian Chatten – Full Way Round (Be Lucky Mix)

This track first came out in 2022, a much slower and more deliberate beast than presented here. This is a blistering remix that massively improves on the original. The beat is pounding, Chatten swaggers around over the top and the synths are top notch. So nearly single of the week.

Coach Party – Girls!

One of the many highlights of last weekend’s brilliant Are You Listening? Festival, Coach Party know how to play. This is a lively and very enjoyable heavy-rock single.

Juliette The Band – Just Fine

This Newbury based band released a lovely debut album recently. This new single does not feature on it and is a fine slice of indiepop.

Dog Race – Return The Day (Colours)

Huge love for this new single, the music is reminiscent of early Killers mixed with various 80s influences.

Alessi Rose – Same Mouth

Another quality guitar-tinged release. This is part of a new 8 track EP/mini album due out in a couple of months.

ZAND – TOES!

ZAND loves a bit of controversy and has a very confrontational style. This is a little bit more straight forward than most of the tracks on Sewerstar. It has an industrial tinge to it and ZAND’s vocals are pretty much untreated.

James Marriott – It’s only Love

Laid back slice of indie-guitar-pop.
