The eleventh album from the British metal heroes finds them on top form.
Having been plugging away for a number of years and various line-ups Architects have really been on the rise over their last few albums. This fantastic new album is only going to continue that ascent both here and over in the States. Following on from his excellent work on Poppy’s last album, ex-Bring Me The Horizoner Jordan Fish is on production duties and also involved in the song writing. He is rapidly becoming a go to name for high quality modern metal acts.
There is, as always with Architects, strong elements of metalcore, though there are some more rock-pop leaning tracks that are likely to win them new fans. ‘Everything Ends’ is highly melodic with only a minimal about of screaming. There are strong Linkin Park vibes here in all the best ways. That track merges into the far quicker tempoed, sceameriffic recent single ‘Brain Dead’ with a superb, sonically aggressive, assault. House of Protection feature on this track to help dial everything up to the max. ‘Broken Mirror’ is another effort that increases the melody, without completely dialling down the intensity.

‘Whiplash’ is an epic single and works brilliantly on the album. It is all about the intense drum work and menacing guitar lines. Other high quality recent singles ‘Curse,’ ‘Seeing Red’ and ‘Blackhole’ are all present and correct. ‘Judgement Day’ dials up the twitchy keyboards and is a strong duet featuring the Los Angeles artist Amira Elfeky. Final track ‘Chandelier’ ends things on a high.
This is a high quality album that has no wasteful tracks. It will be right towards the top metal albums of the year come December.
