A surprise release from Fontaines DC headlines this week’s new singles.
Single of the Week: Fontaines DC – It’s Amazing To Be Young
Tonally this sounds like material from Romance so was probably recorded at the same time. Either way, it was a pleasant surprise to find a new Fontaines track released this week. This just edges out the competition as single of the week.

Suki Waterhouse – Dream Woman
Slightly gothic vibes and a harp pervade this fine new single from Suki Waterhouse. When she says she could be your dream woman it makes you wonder if you should be getting a restraining order put into place.
The Murder Capital – A Distant Life
Released just ahead of the new album ‘Blindness’ that came out on Friday this almost makes them sound happy, almost. Nearly single of the week as I am fairly sure it contains a cowbell, the greatest instrument of them all.

The Luka State – Conspiracy
Nearly pedestrian, but they put just enough energy in to pull it back to interesting.
Baby Said – Take Everything
Another week, another very decent track from Baby Said. Stick around for the major riffage in the back end.

Royel Otis – Oily Heart
It generally only takes a few seconds to identify a Royel Otis track as they have such a distinct sound. Slightly wonky guitars, sun kissed harmonies, clapping and a considerable amount of whistling all feature in this comeback single.

Jordan Rakei – Talk Talk Talk
Very gorgeous track from a talented songwriter.
Mumford and Sons – Malibu
Another single ahead of the incoming album. This one starts quietly before going full ‘Mumford’ on the back end with an epic chorus.
Bakar – Searching
Another great tune from the ‘Hell N Back’ singer.
Jadu Heart – AUX
Really looking forward to their new album, some high quality singles since the start of the year.
Greentea Peng – Green
A highly soulful groove with echoes of Massive Attack or Portishead.
